Missing Danny Gatton

Every time I see a video of this guy play, I’m saddened by the tragedy of his life and death by suicide. Danny Gatton truly was one of the most amazing guitarists to ever entertain us. He could play rockabilly, jazz, rock, bluegrass…Hell, you name it and Danny Gatton could play it. And he could play it better than anyone else. Here he is doing what he normally did: completely upstaging the singer with searing guitar solo work. And this just happens to be one of my favorite honky tonk songs, so it’s all the better! Close your eyes and you won’t be able to tell from one moment to the next whether he’s playing is famous Telecaster or a pedal steel guitar. I wish he was still around making great music these days.
