The Party Ain’t Over is Released!

I’ve been listening to classic Wanda Jackson all morning. I wanted to get her sound in my head before I listen to the new album (The Party Ain’t Over) which has been released just today. Man, I always know that I love her early stuff, but when you listen to it again you realize just how great it is!

The world’s such a different place than it was when she recorded those tunes and I’ve gotten pretty jaded in my opinions of what makes for good music. That makes it all the more refreshing to put myself back into a place where Wanda’s music must have slammed listeners like a ’53 Buick hittin’ you at 70! If it sounds raw and powerful now, just think what it must have been like hearing it back then when you’d never heard anything like it before–especially not from a “girl” singer (and she was just a girl when she recorded those classic rockabilly tracks). And to me it still sounds as fresh as ever.

Do yourself a favor today: Go back and listen to those old tracks now!
